Today - we will discuss A Taste of Power chapter 1, read"Upon Seeing England for the 1st
Time", look at an AP analysis question, and go over PRECIS writing. You will write a PRECIS for "Upon Seeing England for the 1st Time"
I will also present an article on the "Slippery Slope" fallacy to show
you an example of news article that you can begin to research and write
about.
"On Seeing England for the First Time" by Jamaica Kincaid. I want you
to think about speaker, audience, subject (who is each here); her
thesis, purpose, tone, mode, and the
occasion for the essay. Don't worry this isn't a test.
